REG System allows you to manage Thermal Solar Panels, for loading hot water into a tank.
In order to manage the system, the following temperature probes must be installed:
TS1: Solar panels probe (STA-type sensor for high temperature) - mandatory
TS2: Low part main tank probe (STM-type sensor) - mandatory
TS3: High part main probe (STM-type sensor) - optional
TS4: Medium part main probe (STM-type sensor) - optional
The structure of this configuration and the positioning of the probes refer to the diagram below:
The Solar function monitors the temperature of TS1 and TS2, when a temperature difference equal to P01: solar pump activation Threshold is detected, the system activates the associated pump. It remains active until at least two of the conditions below occurs:
The P02: solar pump deactivation Threshold is reached.
At least one of the two TS2 and TS3 probes reaches the maximum value of P03: Main tank high part max Temp or P04: Main solar tank maximum Temp.
Note that it is possible to control either both probes or only S2, by adjusting parameter P06: Sensor used for tank maximum temperature.
For information on sensor settings see .
The system is also equipped with the following Control/Protection parameters:
P07: Solar panels maximum temp limit, if TS1 exceeds this value the pump is switched off;
P08: Cooling solar panels function, if TS1 exceeds this value, the pump is switched on until the value of P15 or a temperature of 10°C less than the parameter P09: Cooling tank function is reached. This mechanism allows excess heat to be discharged to the heat exchanger inside the tank.
P09: cooling tank function, which allows the activation of the solar pump if the sensor TS3 is higher than the set value AND AT THE SAME TIME the temperature on the solar panels detected by TS1 sensor is lower than 20°C than TS3. The pump is subsequently switched off when the temperature of TS3 drops below:
a temperature value of 10°C lower than P10: Solar panels minimum temperature;
the difference between TS1 and TS3 temperature, when it is less than 10°C
P10: Solar panels minimum Temperature, below this value the Solar Panel pump remains switched off.
P12: Solar panels Antifreeze temp protection. Below this value the antifreeze protection output is activated.
P15: Max Tem. Solar tanks, above which the pump is switched off (if active).
Warning
If P08: Cooling solar panels function has been activated, the tank temperature may exceed the values set by P03: main tank high part max Temperature; in any case, the pump will be deactivated when P15: Max Tem. Solar tanks is reached, which is predominant over other factors and acts as a safety limit for the tank.
The System status signals that must be referred to in order to monitor the functioning are as follows:
Displayed Code | Pump Status | Explanation |
1 | OFF | Pump operation is disabled by parameter PS1 |
2 | OFF | Solar Panels threshold temperature reached |
3 | OFF | Tank temperature threshold reached |
4 | OFF | Differential between ST1 and ST2 insufficient (less than PS2) |
5 | OFF | Faulty ST1 Probe |
6 | OFF | Tank safety temperature threshold reached |
11 | ON | Panels cooling function active |
12 | ON | Panels antifreeze function active |
13 | ON | Tank heat disposal function |
14 | ON | Differential between ST1 and ST2 greater than PS1 |
AVAILABLE OUTPUTS
A digital output is available for the Solar Panels single-tank:
98. Solar Function/Special 1 which is activated when the solar pump must operate (in the version prior to 4.32 the RegConfig firmware it was called 98. Solar Pump)
There are no analogue outputs associated with the solar function.
